After a terrifying vampire attack in 1810, Ilia Rose spends the next two centuries hunting Sol, the man responsible for turning her and her friends into vampires.
When Ilia discovers he’s run to the one place she’s running from, she’s forced to face her most painful memories back in her hometown, Bearwood.
There, Ilia finds herself face to face with Nathaniel, an insanely hot vampire, and despite the evidence he’s working for her enemy, Ilia can’t fight her attraction to him, especially when he seems to show up whenever she needs him most.
But Nathaniel is keeping secrets and as they begin to unravel, instead of running away from him, Ilia finds herself falling for him. When his last secret is revealed Ilia’s past comes together in a way she never imagined and she’s left with only one option: trust Nathaniel to help her kill Sol, or risk relinquishing her new found strength thus causing catastrophic and devastating consequences for her and everyone she loves.
Ilia begins a gut-wrenching battle to save her life and the lives of her friends, a battle which not everyone will survive.
A vampire tale like none other, love, pain, devastation and revenge, all weave together to create the first in a dark and unmissable new adult series.
Due to sexual content, this book is intended for readers age 18+
I started to read this before Christmas and read a few chapters trying to get my head around the characters and the back story between Lana and Ilia. Once I came back home and started reading again Oh My God was I hooked, I spent the whole night last night reading the rest.
This book gave me romance, action (lots of it), drama, chaos and there were parts that made me cry and it’s been ages that an author has actually made me cry over a scene.
The story line was done perfectly the way the characters were thought out and the way they were introduced, I just loved it there was a lovely flow to the book, and it always left me wanting more.
I liked the story line behind Ilia the main character and the pain she has been through as well as the love relationship between her, Kyle and Nathaniel.
You have to read the book the cliffhanger is really good too, I can’t wait for the next book.
Questions for the author.
1. Why did you want to be an author?
I wanted to be an author for years. As a child I read a lot, escaping from my world into the colorful and exciting worlds of others. I loved authors such as Roald Dahl, Piers Anthony and Enid Blyton. I wanted to be able to do the same thing.
When I broke through the woods, I almost smashed into a shiny red car. Kyle laughed as I skidded to a halt and tumbled, landing at his feet. Lucas arrived with much more elegance behind me.“I know you worship the ground I walk on Ili, but there’s no need to fall at my feet,” Kyle joked, pulling me up. “I threw some clothes and other essential into a bag for you and there’s enough blood bottles in the trunk to keep you going for a while.”“You really think I should go?”“I do.” Kyle sighed. “I don’t want you to, but you need this and Alex needs you.”I studied Kyle’s face. I didn’t want to leave him, but Alex did need me; to haul his ass back here before he got himself killed.Turning to Lucas I said, “I’ll be back soon.” He nodded at me and gave me a half smile.
“Take this,” Kyle said, handing me my cellphone. “Keep us informed.”“I’ll be back,” I said with conviction.“I know. Bring him home, Ilia, he’s got nothing.”My heart flooded with love for Kyle. I admired his concern for Alex.“Thank you, Kyle. For everything. I can never repay you enough.”“You have nothing to thank me for. Now scram – the sooner you leave, the sooner you’ll be back.”My heart squeezed as I climbed into the car. I watched Kyle and Lucas as I rolled away. They’d been my strength for the past three months. I wondered how I would manage without them. I would have to find Alex as soon as possible and bring him home, then I wouldn’t have to worry.Kyle and Lucas stood cross-armed watching me as I drove away. I stopped the car and hung my head out of the window.“I’ll be back soon, I promise,” I shouted to them.“I know,” Lucas shouted back.
I put the car into drive again.“Tweet me,” Kyle shouted sarcastically as I drove away.I grinned to myself. Kyle may be a proverbial pain in the ass sometimes, but I never wanted him to change.
