I have seen this book around for so long, it’s been out since 2013.  I have had it on my goodreads to be read list for a while now but just not got around to reading/purchasing it.  What did you all think about it?

I have heard it is fantastic and if I like The Girl on the Train then I will like this book

Someone took Daisy Mason.
Someone YOU KNOW.

Twists galore, a gripping race against time, and police characters you’ll love – if you were addicted to Broadchurch and Line of Duty, then CLOSE TO HOME is for you.

How can a child go missing without a trace?

Last night, 8-year-old Daisy Mason disappeared from her parents’ summer party. No one in the quiet suburban street saw anything – or at least that’s what they’re saying.

DI Adam Fawley is trying to keep an open mind. But he knows that nine times out of ten, it’s someone the victim knew.

That means someone is lying.

And that Daisy’s time is running out…

Scandalous is LIVE and on sale: Adult Fiction

Scandalous (Sinners of Saint Book 4) by [Shen, L.J.]

Scandalous is LIVE!!!

I am thrilled to announce that the latest book in the Sinners of Saint series, Scandalous, is LIVE! Scandalous is a complete standalone and is on special sale. It is also free with Kindle Unlimited, so make sure to check it out before the price goes up.

They call him The Mute for a reason.
Hard, cold and calculated, he rarely speaks.
When he does, it’s with disdain.
When he does, his words aren’t meant for me.
When he does, my stomach flips and my world tilts on its axis.
He is thirty-three.
I am eighteen.
He’s a single dad and my father’s business partner.
I’m just a kid to him and his enemy’s daughter.
He’s emotionally unavailable.
And I am…feeling. Feeling things I shouldn’t feel for him.
Trent Rexroth is going to break my heart. The writing isn’t just on the wall, it’s inked on my soul.
And yet, I can’t stay away.
A scandal is the last thing my family needs. But a scandal is what we’re going to give them.
And oh, what beautiful chaos it will be.

Book Review: Cast in Angelfire – The Mage craft series.

Cast in angelfireNineteen-year-old Marion can’t remember anything before waking up in the hospital. All she knows that a lot of people want to kill her. And her would-be assassins are not human…

Vampires are real. So are faeries and angels.

They all want Marion dead.

Surrounded by enemies, Marion turns to Lucas Flynn: a mysterious doctor who seems to know more than he’s letting on. He’s as good with a gun as he is with a scalpel. He fights like a demon but claims that he’s human. And he’s hellbent on protecting Marion.

Lucas claims that Marion is a mage: half-witch, half-angel with terrifying powers that could crack the world. But Marion can’t remember how to cast magic any more than she can remember where she comes from.

Marion must find her identity and her power…before the forgotten sins of her past catch up with her.

Review

Cast in Angelfire: An Urban Fantasy Romance (The Mage Craft Series Book 1) by [Reine, SM]

I promise this will not all be negatives just read on to get a good idea of my thoughts.
First impressions, I knew this was based at teens and YA, so I was prepared for it to be a lot tamer than the books I read a lot of lately….. Romance is a bit different haha.
Anyway when I first started to read this book I did find it quite hard to follow for the first 50% of the story.   The different forms of paranormal characters were really hard to follow, I understood the werewolves, witches, and angels but there were a few other species I really did not understand.  And I love my fantasy books so I normally come across the same sort of creatures, but I was thrown in this book.

The beginning of the book jumps into the night before Marion loses her memories. There is a rather large price on her head, and every species is after her.  The first half of the book then explores Marion  travelling with Dr. Lucas Flynn, to where she thinks home could be, in hopes it will lead her to this Seth Wilder.  Seth wilder becomes clear later on.

I did find this book hard to understand and was struggling to read it until I was half way through.  That was when things really started to happen, and I felt there was a plot thickening.  The second half of the book was filled with tension, mystery, action and chemistry.
I enjoyed reading about the relationship that Lucas and Marion shared, it is definitely unique, and this becomes clear in the beginning.

Obviously as it is a young adult and teens book there was no sex.  Well…… there was the odd sexual moment,  there was one scene focused on Marion watching an Orgy,  that was umm interesting, and actually made me giggle because of the way it was described.  But the author definitely made me feel like I was reading form a 19 year old perspective which is perfect, and exactly the sort of audience the author was going for.  I did enjoy this, and that is why I gave it 4 stars.

I am actually very interested in reading the second book

Cast in Hellfire: An Urban Fantasy Romance (The Mage Craft Series Book 2) by [Reine, SM]

The author

S.M. Reine

I’m an Air Force brat who was born in the midwest, lived overseas for a few years, and came back to the United States to settle down in beautiful, barren Nevada. I’ve known that I wanted to be a writer for almost my entire life, after I finally gave up on becoming a velociraptor. I wrote my very first book when I was twelve-ish.

When I’m not writing–which is seldom–I’m nose-deep in geek culture. I am insane about movies. My favorite part is arguing about them, because whatever opinion you have is definitely not as good as mine. I’m also a big dork for video games. My Steam library is a force to be reckoned with, and my favorite game of the week is Brighter Day.

Other hobbies include tickling my sons until they pass out from giggling, walking the miniature schnauzer (that’s not a euphemism), cuddling my army of black kitties, and eating delicious Italian food from my husband’s family restaurant. I’m also a strict meatarian and consume bacon for two meals every day. Also, I primarily work at two miles per hour whilst walking on my treadmill desk.

Happy reading.
