This is my Genre – Book Tag

I was browsing around for a few more tag posts and came across sharing the genre I love best….. The post I enjoyed most was by Callum McLaughlin, so here is my twist for the tag.
Enjoy and please follow and like to show your support.

  • What is your favourite genre?

Anything Romance/Fantasy.

  • Who is your favourite author from that genre?

Nalini Singh long term.    A new fantasy/Romance author I love is Josie Jaffrey.

  • What is it about the genre that keeps pulling you back?

I love getting lost in a world that obviously doesn’t exist.  I am a hopeless romantic so mixing that with a fictional world just drew me in.

  • What is the book that started your love for that genre?

twilight-saga-twilight-series-30543454-1280-720Need I say more.  I read this series WAAYY before it came out as a film.  I was a teenager at the time bored of school and loved how this book helped me get lost into thinking there is more out there in the world…… I used to day dream a lot haha.

  • If you had to recommend at least one book from your favourite genre to a non-reader/someone looking to start reading that genre, what book would you choose and why?

Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1)

Angels Blood by Nalini Singh.  Angels, vampires and hunters all mixed into one action packed book, mixed with strong characters.

This series will suck you into a world where everyone knows supernatural people exist.

I have done so many reviews on this series, and new books keep coming out, always about a different character in the book but following the story line.

  • Why do you read?

I love how an author can get lost in a fictional world and write so well that you fall in love with the characters also, and forget about the world we live in.
I have always loved reading since I was little, my mum said I used to lock myself in my room and dive into a book, my escape from reality.  And that still carries on til today.  I may not read as much lately as life gets busier the older you get, but I always love to get lost between the pages.

Love candles?….Me too and I found deals.

Hey all,
This time of year I love to cosy up under a blanket with my book and candles.  Plus my Instagram feed is absolutely covered in the same aesthetic.
I have previously posted a LONG time ago about my love for Yankee Candles but refuse to pay their prices, so normally resort to good old Amazon, for deals.
When browsing around for the cheapest candles I came across – Candle list
I love cheap deals but wow the SAVINGS.

My favourite Yankee candles include Cinnamon/Spiced Cinnamon, Vanilla Cupcake and Black Cherry.   These are my absolute go to candles.

Normally these large candles cost £23.99 on Yankee candles official site, Amazon – £17.98  but on this new site I found they’re only charging £13.63.  That is cheaper than the medium jar candles available on Yankee Candle.   With a new baby I am all about savings, especially with Christmas on the way.

I found this site uses loads of companies combined together to get the best deals, I simply click what I want and it takes me to the site with the best deal, this includes Amazon, Groupon etc.  Saves all that space on my phone taken up with different apps.  I need that room for baby photos #Babyspam.
The scent of candles just relaxes me as well as the mood lighting.  I find just having the candle lit whilst watching tv gives me a cosy vibe.  However money is an issue so I haven’t been able to buy many lately.   My other half calls me a candle addict.   With this site I just typed in candles and I was taken to the biggest list full of candles, accessories and gift sets.
My range of candles go from tea lights for that hot bath after a stressful day with my boy, giving me some much needed me time, to large candles in my living room in the evening.

Yankee Candle Four Large TumblersThis is definitely going to be a must have for me soon.  I am so bummed it is out of stock right now.  I could have got 4 of these for £19.99.  WHY ARE YOU SOLD OUT!!

If you’re looking for some gift sets they are currently selling loads.  Most are Christmas sets, but I want to show some to you. I am shocked.  I even have my sister looking through it right now as we speak.  Definitely buying some of these sets for my family.

Another bonus is they have a huge list of kids books.  With my Nephew turning 8 months soon and my little man turning 3 months, I am trying to read to them as much as I can.  As well as keeping Christmas in mind.

Stalker by Lars Kepler

If the lights are on, a stalker can see you from outside. But if the lights are off, you can’t see a stalker who is already inside the house.

A video-clip is sent to the National Criminal Investigation Department. Someone has secretly filmed a woman through her window from the garden. The next day she is found dead after a frenzied knife-attack. The police receive a second film of another unknown woman. There is no way of identifying her before time runs out. When her husband finds her he is so traumatized that he cleans the whole house and puts her to bed. He may have seen a vital clue, but is in such an extreme state of shock that the police are unable to question him.

After our first kiss, he moved away.

After our first time together, he confessed it wasn’t his first time.

After buying me my first drink, he said he was with someone else… but still loved me.

Now I’m staring at two pink lines on a pregnancy test… and the number he gave me to call?

It’s been disconnected. Great.

Book review

Rose and Foster are two very different people from very different backgrounds.  They fall deeply in love as teenagers and then find themselves in an on and off again relationship through the years…. One constant being, Foster always leaves.

Rose was raised by her father.  Her mother passed away when she was only 9 leaving Rose, Vivien (her sister) and her dad.  Both sisters leaned on each other as they grew up, taking turns to grieve and watch out for their dad.

Foster was raised with an alcoholic drug addicted father, who was in and out of jail more times than he could count.  The heartbreaking thing was he kept promising a young Foster that they would be together again, new home, new life and be a family.  However his dad never kept to that deal.     He also had a few more secrets he never told Foster.
P.S Foster is not his real name.

What I enjoyed overall was the skip between present day and the past.  This built up an in depth knowledge of both Rose and Fosters relationship.  I would not say it was a relationship built on trust.  I struggled to get into the book as I felt Rose was weak, forever weak at the knees for a boy who would leave her to pick up the pieces of her broken heart.
In the book they divulge personal life stories to each other, but I found the way Foster kept leaving with no explanation to be an untrustworthy part of their relationship.
This leads me onto the relationship plot.  I liked the characters and their interesting back stories and how they brought them together.  However I found the story line to be repetitive.  I felt I was basically reading about them getting together and splitting up every chapter, over the same thing and the same way…… Foster would always leave.  Looking at other reviews I found this a common factor.
I liked the book and gave it 3 stars on Goodreads, but I wouldn’t say I was hooked.
In the Synopsis it hints she is pregnant…..

Yes she gets pregnant and Foster is the dad, but this doesn’t come up until about 80% of the way through the book.  I believe if it wasn’t for the baby Foster would never have come back and they would never have had their “Happy ever after”.
