*Blogtober day 7*My Makeup Revolution Haul – Includes The New Petra Palette

Hello lovelies.
Now I have seen Revolution Makeup EVERYWHERE, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.  I am always looking for good makeup that doesn’t cost the earth, and heard fantastic reviews of this brand and thought why not give it a go.
I haven’t done any first impressions yet.  May have had a few quick swatches but will need to test these over time.  But from what I can see I am pleasantly surprised.
Because I spent over £30 I received a mystery goodie bag for free, which I will show you below.

haul

My main purchases included –

Revolution Lace baking powder – £5

Revolution conceal and define Concealer in shade C4 (Need a shade lighter next time as this matches my skin tone) – £4

Revolution pro lipstick collection in Nude – pack of 5 – £7

Revolution Conceal and Define Full Coverage Foundation, shade F4 (my perfect shade, descriptions are so accurate) – £9

Revolution X Petra eye shadow Palette – £12

Bringing the makeup to a grand total of £37

I really really wanted to try this palette designed by Petra, as well as the new foundation.  What attracted me to this palette over the others was the mixture of matte neutral shades, with the pop of colour.  Not all the shades are matte some have shimmer but just the right amount.  For £12 that is a bargain.  From a few swatches I have done, they are highly pigmented and very creamy.

Now for the mystery bag

free closedfree
I received –

  • The revolution colour correcting palette.
  • Contour and light palette.
  • Contour shades from Freedom.
  • 2x lipsticks – 1x Revolution and 1x Freedom.  (Great for me starting a lipstick collection).
  • And last of all a Sili sponge “not a sponge”.  Not overly keen on this never tried one before so I had a quick go and found it left my foundation streaky.

Everyday Makeup Products

Makeup as a new mum is a challenge.  To tell you the truth if it was just me, and Craig wasn’t around, I probably would never wear makeup out ( so time consuming, no new mum has time for that :p).
Most days I cuddle my baby boy in pj’s and no makeup, I am a lazy girl at heart, don’t judge me.
So when I finally decide to go out and dress up, I put on the same makeup look, boring I know but it works for me.
Below I have also added links so you can check out previous posts for these products.
Please enjoy and don’t forget to like, comment and follow.  I really appreciate it.

Every day quick makeupMy Makeup consists of from base to finish-

1- Always moisturise (I forgot to add the cream here but I lately using Nivea face and body).

2- L’Oreal True Match Foundation in shade Rose Ivory ( Those of you who have been here a while know this is my holy grail).  For a quick look I do not use concealer, this foundation covers well.

3- Set it all with Airspun translucent powder.   Available on Amazon, great when you’re on a budget as I have not found a better powder for the same price.

4- Bit of contouring with the Kat Von D shade and light palette which is very well loved and I have hit pan…….. in desperate need of a new palette please comment below.  (I am on a budget now though :/).

5- For blush I have been using Benefits Galifornia.   Bought this over a year ago, I use it all the time and I still haven’t hit pan.  It is a gorgeous pink that you can build on.  A little goes a long way.

6-  Highlight, Sleek highlighting palette with 4 shades.  This is another holy grail product I will definitely purchase again it is stunning.  Again i have hit pan on this product.  Can you tell it’s well loved by all the fingerprints :p.

7- Finally the eyes and brows.  Lately I have been using the Benefit BAD gal BANG mascara , a fantastic product.  I received this in my March Birchbox pot a while ago, and definitely intend to buy the full size tube once used.
And for brows I received the Fill and tame brow mascara in brunette, again I got this in my April Birchbox 2018- Cath Kidston special edition.

The coverage this product states to give is real.  The only problem with my sample is that it doesn’t remove as much product from the wand like the full sized product does.  I think that this is a design problem with the sample, making it cheaper.  This just means I need to scrape off the product from the wand to make sure my eye lashes are not too thick.
But wow overall my eyelashes are voluminous, well coated, and my eyelashes have never looked clumpy.
A little goes a long way, I have put on this mascara everyday since March and I have loads of product left 🙂 which is awesome.
I will definitely be spending my pennies and buying the full sized product when this one runs out.

June Birchbox review – why am I cancelling?

Hello all, welcome back to another Birchbox review, and my last Birchbox review. Lets jump straight into it.

DSC_9323

First of all I liked the tin idea.   At least with a tin I know it will last longer than the normal boxes and it is re-usable.  However I DISLIKED the design, it is so old fashioned.  The design is for their 5th year Birthday, but not pretty compared to the other boxes I have received.
Lets dive into the products.

DSC_9324

Whittard of Chelsea tea bags x3

Yep tea bags,  I don’t even drink tea so this was a waste.  In my profile when I complete my likes, dislikes and preferences no where did it state do I want tea in my box.  I bet this is because it’s a UK box – STEREOTYPES!!
There were 3 flavours:
1- Earl Grey
2 – Mango & Bergamot
3 – Lemon & Ginger

DSC_9325

POLAAR sun cream – retail price £25

Another product that I didn’t really need, I will use it as it is sun cream but not needed as a sample.  Sun cream is so easy to purchase why spend £25 on it :/
I am turning into  a negative reviewer, but when I spend money for samples and I get two products so far that I won’t really use…… WASTE

DSC_9326

AMIKA Bombshell blowout spray – retail price £14.99

Okay I received 2 hair products again this month,  I don’t even use them all.  This is a common complaint online that I see, makeup products are less and less where as there is always loads of hair products….
However I did try this texture spray the other day for my ponytail and it was very good- used on dry hair.  I probably would buy the larger version.

Benefit – POREfessional pearl primer – RRP £27.50 full sized.

YAY beauty products, and a good one.  I have wanted to try this primer for a while but refused to pay the full price.  I was sent a tin tiny sample size which is good enough.  I do like it under my makeup, it smooths out dry skin and dry spots – leaving my makeup after application flawless.

Number 4 Jour d’automne smoothing balm – RRP £24.50

I have tried the balm when my hair was dry due to me having naturally frizzy/curly hair.
It worked well, but really smells like men’s lynx body spray :p weird but it works.

DSC_9329

Ella Eden eye shadow – RRP £12.99

Very nice creamy eye shadow, no fall out and very shimmery.
I use this in the centre of my eyelid for a highlight.
May even be good to use as a highlight on the face, see the swatch below.

DSC_9330DSC_9331

I have tried this box for the last 4 months, however I have decided I no longer want to spend £12.99 a month on this box.
I get loads of hair products and rarely get makeup products like promised.  Each month I am slowly becoming disappointed.
My profile was always updated so that products should match my needs however I never felt Birchbox paid attention to it.

This month was the last one I wanted and I have now decided to cancel my subscription.

Will I look into other boxes HELL YES! However next time I am going to research into a lot more depth to get the best price for my money.
Leave your thoughts below.

Comparison – high end and drug store Highlighters

Two highlighters with 2 very different prices…… Let’s review.

dsc_9233.jpg

Model Co baked highlighter – free sample from Birchbox, in the shade Moonshine.
This is only a sample size, the actual size is worth £31.

IMG_1452

Sleek highlighter palette purchased off Amazon for only £10, in the shade Solstice.

Review:

The Sleek highlighter palette I have used for well over a year, my favourite shade is Equinox the lovely gold shade.  It is cheap, very pigmented and gives a great colour pay off.
I received the Model Co highlighter from my Birch-box subscription in April.  It is a beautiful shade, more natural, not so shimmery.

I use a fan brush to apply both highlighters. A few brush strokes from the Sleek palette and I have a very pigmented highlight.   Downside to the Model co highlight is that, it takes a lot of dabbing the brush to get any pay off, i often find myself adding more and more to get close to the pay off I get with Sleek.

I like both products, however when I way up the price of them both I think Sleek is worth the money.  I use less product with sleek and it lasts longer, I am also given 4 shades in the palette.
Model Co is lovely but I wouldn’t spend £31 in the future when I have to use more product.  I always reach for my Sleek palette first.

April Birchbox 2018- Cath Kidston special edition

Hello everyone, welcome back to my new Birchbox series.  This is my second one I have purchased, April Cath Kidston special edition.
Postage about £2
Box only £10

Quote of this month:
“Brighten up your day”

DSC_9229

Here is a sneak peak before we dive into all these products…… Remember they are only sample sized.  Fantastic if you do not know if you want to spend your money or not.  This box is catered to my personal profile for my likes, skin and shade.

DSC_9231

Main free product for the special edition is the Cath Kidston hand cream.  Retails for £2.50 and this is the full sized product.  It smells amazing.  Going to use this in my baby changing bag.

DSC_9232

Percy & Reed Perfectly perfecting wonder balm, for the hair.  This is only 30ml.  The full sized 70ml product retails for £18.

DSC_9239DSC_9233

Okay when I say sample size, this is tiny,  it is very dinky.  However it is beautiful.
This is the MODEL co Baked highlighter in Moonshine.
Retails for £24
There was a choice of 2 this month, I prefer a darker highlight so I do not look washed out.

DSC_9234DSC_9235

Beautaniq Brow gel, Fill and tame.
This came in 3 shades, blonde, brunette or black.  I chose Brunette.
I think this is the full sized product which retails for £8.60.

DSC_9236DSC_9237

Last of all there are 2 AfterSpa Makeup remover gloves.
These are very small.  The full sized product retails for £8.95.

March Birchbox – first time buying

Hello all and welcome back to my blog space.
Today we are looking into my first EVER Birchbox, from March.
For the total of £12.95 (£10 for the box, £2.95 postage).
If you like this sort of post do not forget to like and follow for more.

DSC_9191

The box comes with about 3 booklets/leaflets.
The first is the main booklet with details about the products, as well as a quote.  The quote for March was “Be present not perfect”.
Lets move onto what is inside.
DSC_9192

Boom, all this for £10.  AMAZING.
On my profile I was able to fill out questions about my skin and preferred products.  Birchbox then decide on what products would best suit my skin.
I then recieved a free sample which is the Blaq face mask.

DSC_9193

This is the Ritual of Sakura foaming shower gel ( FULL SIZED) by Rituals, normally retails for £4.50.
It smells so good, and the product is like shaving gel, so a little lasts a long time.

DSC_9195

BLAQ face mask ( tester size)- this was the free product.
the full size mask retails for £14.
I found the sample size did 2 full face masks.

DSC_9196

This is the MaskMe hydrating hair mask by Pro Blo Group.
a pack of 4 of these cost £8.
I have not tried this yet.

DSC_9197

The best bit this month was they included a sample size of the new Benefit BAD Gal BANG mascara.
The full size mascara retails for £21.50
I love it and I know this sample size is going to last me such a long time.  I will do a proper review on this product another day.

DSC_9198

And finally…….This is the Spectrums collection B04 Angled blender brush
Retails for £5.99
It is so soft and applies eyeshadow and blends beautifully.

DSC_9199

I hope you enjoyed checking out the March Birchbox.
I love this and cannot wait to see what my April Birchbox will bring.
I definitely think it is worth the money.  £10 for all these testers and 2 of them on their own cost £10.49 ( brush and showergel)  so the rest were a bonus.
Definitely helps me decide if I want to buy the full sized products.
