After tragedy strikes, Callie Sinclair is left with a gift she never wanted—the ability to communicate with ghosts. But when a desperate widow begs for her help, she reluctantly agrees to investigate the strange occurrences at Hillwood Farm. She quickly realizes she’s dealing with a dangerous presence beyond anything she’s ever experienced, and something else becomes equally clear—the only other living person in the house, Mrs. Turner’s handsome grandson, thinks she’s a scam artist. While she’d prefer to just ignore him, her heart beats a little faster every time he’s nearby.
Luke Turner doesn’t believe in spirits. He’s moved back to restore the family farm, but living on the property serves a dual purpose—he can watch out for his grandmother. He’s not happy about the sudden appearance of a self-described psychic, or his inexplicable attraction to her. His initial suspicions crumble as evidence points to an actual haunting, but he’s still determined not to fall for Callie—the past has taught him it’s best to avoid relationships.
As Callie is drawn deeper into the mystery, she becomes the target of a vengeful spirit, and Luke can no longer fight his feelings for her. Unable to resist their desire, passion ignites…even as the paranormal activity escalates to a final deadly confrontation.
I was sent a ebook copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This was my first time reading a book by this author, and I am not disappointed.
This was only a short story.
The book is based around Hillwood farm, a farm that has been in the Turner’s family for generations. Everything was calm and going well until Alice Turner’s husband passed away, leading to her grandson, Luke moving in.
Ever since then weird things have been happening, paranormal disturbances. Alice believes it’s her loving husband returning to her until the acts of what she perceives as love turn viscous.
The beginning of the book jumps straight in to the story of Callie, with just enough back story to understand her abilities, however we discover more about Callie and Luke as the story develops. They both have their own baggage to share.
I enjoyed the paranormal events from the beginning, they were spooky enough to give me goosebumps, and build just enough tension to make me wonder what was going to happen next.
Poor Callie not only has to convince a sceptic, but also take some beatings of her own.
Alice, Callie and Luke are in for a dangerous journey ahead, as they discover the ghosts true identity.
This was a light romance book, the main focus being the paranormal investigation. The tension between both romantic and Paranormal was very well thought out. I was drawn in from the very beginning and wish there was a series about Callie. This was a stand alone novel.
The length was perfect, I didn’t feel anything was missed, or could have been developed.
I would highly recommend this book for you paranormal lovers.
