Bound to silver Book 3: Solis Invicti Series – Book Review

Bound in Silver book 3

If you’re living against the clock, try not to do it in a cage.

Exiled from the city and from the affections of the vampire who had loved her, Emmy finds herself pushed into a captivity she never expected to experience. With the bond to her former protector broken, she knows that the chance to turn Silver is now a monstrous obligation rather than a glittering opportunity.

In an unfamiliar place among unfamiliar people, Emmy feels deserted by those Silver she had thought of as friends, out of sight and out of mind. If only her enemies were equally forgetful.

Bound in Silver is the penultimate book in Josie Jaffrey’s Solis Invicti paranormal romance quadrilogy, set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic London where a deadly infection threatens to wipe out humanity. The only people who can stem its advance are the Silver, a vampiric race who offer a simple exchange: protection in return for blood and subservience.

Please read the first two books to understand this story, and the characters involved – This may be a spoiler if you haven’t read the first two books, links above.

I received an Arc copy of this book for an honest review.

Oliver/Ollie and Emmy are sent to spend time in a small one bed cell to serve their sentence for supposedly risking, and killing multiple humans and Silver ( not intentionally).  This book follows on from The price of silver where Emmy is trying to save her friends captured by the rebels.  Emmy is caught up in a planned explosion by the rebels which implicates her.  Ollie and Emmy are the only survivors post explosion, but Emmy cannot explain why she is still alive because before she lost consciousness she could have sworn she was dying, and definitely had broken bones.

Bound in Silver is based on the 3rd week from when the Weepers/Zombies become public in England.  Emmy has lost her bond with Drew, which no one can explain.
After being sentenced to her small cell with Ollie after being publicly named a rebel, Emmy is sworn to fail her challenges which have been set to turn Silver (No turning back now).
Emmy is forced to get to know Ollie on a more intimate level, enduring weepers at their cell door, 15 mile walks with no protection and constant scrutiny.

The prologue gave it away that Emmy makes it as far as the casting, however there is a bigger surprise waiting for her, not even Drew or her enemy Ben could have planned what was going to happen next.
Once the huge secret is revealed Ben is more determined to kill Emmy and those attached to her.

This book is left on a huge cliffhanger, I had to start book 4 – (The Silver Bullet) on the same day, I just couldn’t wait another day.  I was drawn in by the book focusing on just the two characters, their relationship, friendship and survival.
Emmy is still battling to decide what she really wants, who she really wants.  I found this part the most frustrating, I just wanted to reach into the book and shake Emmy screaming ” pick someone or let them go for goodness sake”.

Lots of sexual tension, sex, action, anger, secrets and huge reveals!

Will Emmy turn Silver, will she survive confinement and what awaits her at the trial….
