The new book is coming September 2019, and I am beyond excited to have read this. Everything below is from the newsletter and I give all credit to Nalini Singh.
Isn’t the cover breath taking. Cannot wait to see the international cover, which are the editions I own already.

Advance Excerpt From Archangel’s War

by Nalini Singh

“We watch,” the Primary said. “We protect.”

But things were altering in front of them, a faint glow emanating from where the aeclari had been before the filaments obscured both Raphael’s body and Elena’s chrysalis.

Beyond the balcony doors now partially covered with the snow silk of the filaments, the Bluebell turned. His eyes widened at seeing the ocean of filaments, the glow. But before he could open the closed doors, a familiar voice entered all their minds.

Leave now. It was an order from an archangel. Clear the skies above. Empty the land around. GO.

The Legion were moving even as the last word echoed in their minds. They were Raphael’s Legion, Elena’s Legion, and they had been given an order. The Bluebell wasn’t Legion. He was one of the Seven. Unique. With his own mind.

Torment wrenched his features, but he inclined his head, and the Primary saw him form the word, “Sire.”

All of them moved.

The Bluebell dropped to the grass, then ran inside the house.

The Legion broke into four parts and swept the area. Winged beings were already flying toward the river at high speed, their faces stark and their jaws determined. The Legion dropped down in front of cars moving on the nearest road. The cars were not so close to the aeclari’s home, but the archangel hadn’t said how far to clear.

When the first two cars halted with a screech that caused a burning scent to rise to their nostrils, the Legion wrenched the doors open and hauled the startled vampires out. A group of the Legion rose into the air, two to a vampire. Another group found four humans in a third car, a vampire’s cattle heading home. The scared cattle whimpered at being taken by the Legion but didn’t struggle. Neither did the vampires after they saw the angels racing from the Enclave to the water.

Golden light poured out from the windows of the aeclari’s home.

Many of the angels streaming over the water held vampires or humans in their arms, getting their households out of danger. The Bluebell was one of the last to fly out of the Enclave, and though the Legion did not speak to many outside of the aeclari, they spoke to him: Are the aeclari’s people safe? This was important. The Legion knew. The aeclari had bonds to those who lived in the house.

Yes, I got them out. The Bluebell, who could fly faster than the Primary and sometimes raced with the cars of the Blade and the Viper, fell off the cliff with his wings licked by a golden light so bright that it was difficult to face. In one hand, he held a large rectangular thing, in his other items they recognized.

Several of the Legion flew to him, and took the things. They did not understand things, but these were linked to the aeclari in their mind. We will fly them to the Tower.

Most of the angels kept on flying toward Manhattan, and those of the Legion that carried vampires or mortals kept on going, too. But the Primary turned once he was over the center of the river, as did those of his brethren who flew only their own bodies.

The Bluebell halted in front of them, the silvery blue of his wings spread and his face awash in the burning golden light that had turned the river to gold.

And the light, it grew, and grew, and grew.

Until at last, the light was so bright that it became fire and even the Primary couldn’t bear it and threw up his arm in front of his eyes. The last thing he saw was an intense white brightness.

Review – The Blood Prince, Sovereign Series #3

Kindle Edition, 301 pages Published February 20th 2019 by Smashwords

The price of freedom is always paid in blood.

The sovereigns of the Silver have awakened, but the Queen is a fractured shell of the woman Cam remembers. He hopes to put her back together by finding her son, the missing prince. At least, that’s what he tells his friends when he leaves for the Red.

Back in the Blue, Julia’s old tormentor Rufus is hounding her at every turn. She’s sick of feeling powerless, but she has a plan that will bring the Nobles to their knees.
All she needs is blood.

The Blood Prince is the final book in Josie Jaffrey’s Sovereign trilogy, set in a dystopian Europe where vampiric Nobles control the last remnants of the human race.

Review –

This is an honest review…..If you have followed me for a while, you may remember last year I reviewed the first series – The Solis Invicti. That was when I fell in love with Emmy and Sol, and gave the series a 5 star rating. Here are my reviews for them –

A bargain in silver
The price of silver
Bound to silver
The silver bullet

Now on to the Sovereign series. Firstly I love Josie’s descriptive writing, the writing is well structured as always, and skillful. Josie Includes other languages, different backgrounds and sexuality.

Josie is very tasteful throughout her books, romance, action and suspense is present, however this series has perhaps not been to my liking.

The characters – The dialogue is from two perspectives Cam and Julia, with some narrative including Felix and Lucas.

The blood prince dives deeper into their relationships, their obstacles and their futures.

The plot was simple – find Emmy and Sol’s long lost son. When he was born no one knows. Emmy is turning dark, Sol is lost and the Blue just isn’t the same anymore.
Julia continues on a developmental journey to become stronger, and is more determined than ever to prove she can tackle the red alone.
Cam finds love but faces the toughest decision of his lifetime, is Felix worth everything he has worked hard for.

I enjoyed their adventures out into the red, escaping the ruins of the Blue for the ever-growing adventure.

My one disappointment was, I wish there was more of a development between them all. I felt I was reading the second instalment of the series again.
Don’t get me wrong I was in love with the Solis invicti series, I read the whole series in one week. However this book lacked the tension and romance that the story line between Emmy and Sol had.  On the other hand this book focused more on the progression and development of each character.

Perhaps this series wasn’t for me, I think I just missed the original characters too much.
To be thrown 500 years ahead of the previous series, and find the old characters have pretty much gone did throw me off. And the old characters that were left lacked the fire I once read.

I really enjoyed the overall dialogue between the characters, I just missed the amount of tension and action that was present in the Invicti series.
The ending was a little bit lacking, it felt rushed and would have really benefited from some more suspense.
I think I just wanted Emmy and Sol back, which is very selfish of me. But Josie I still love your writing, and the stories you have created have engrossed me from the beginning.

Would I recommend this book to you all, yes I would. But I probably won’t be reading this series again, and will return to my love of the Invicti Series.

I have given this book a 4/5 because I do love Josie, and I loved the previous series.  This is my opinion and I would always recommend you read these books yourself, we all have our own likes and dislikes.

Here are my previous reviews for the Sovereign series –

Homecoming: The Crane Diaries series – Book Review.

New Orleans is a city known for its paranormal history—and it’s the place Emma Rose Crane, AKA Mattie Hathaway, has come home to.

She hopes she can start over in New Orleans, where her ability to see ghosts isn’t so freaky. She’s even starting college, but the whole thing would be a lot easier if she weren’t faced with a family she barely knows, all while dealing with the loss of someone she loved.

Can she really escape her past and be semi-normal? Even with her sister Mary and best friend Eric by her side, it’s going to be a wild ride once she agrees to help Mary’s new friends investigate a “haunted” house.

The house’s new occupants are terrified, and the ghost seems to be attacking their little girl, leaving everyone desperate for answers. Emma isn’t sure what to think when she discovers Dr. Lawrence Olivet was also invited to investigate.

Will her gifts be enough to save the family that is currently being stalked in their own home? And when some of her own family’s long-kept secrets come to light, will her fresh start be over before it even begins?

Review

Copy – I have the paperback and Kindle edition (161 pages).
Published – 11/12/18
Published by – Limitless publishing.

It has been a while since I have read YA fiction. This book was sent to me for a promotional post and it caught my attention, I love ghost stories, so why not check this out. I also have to admit I liked the cover chosen for this book, it’s unique and extremely eye catching.
I found the reaper at the beginning of each chapter was a little childish, I know it is a YA, however that little detail could have been left out.

This is the first book I have ever read by Apryl Baker, her series ghost files is widely loved on Goodreads.
Emma is such a strong character growing up in foster care, with the abilities of a reaper. If that wasn’t tough enough she nearly died last year reaping a particularly difficult ghost.

I found it hard to read this book because there was obviously a bigger event in Emma’s life that I have not read. I think there must be a book prior to this one but I cannot find it unfortunately, if you can please comment below so I can add it to my review for others.

I have grown to really like Emma, she is a strong, persistent young woman, not letting her abilities prevent her from achieving a degree in psychology, with the added perk of being able to communicate with the dead effectively.

The haunting in this book is creepy and very well done. I really enjoyed the references to actual TV shows, for example Ghost adventures was used a lot. I found Apryl grew the plot throughout, gradual but effective. The description, twists, and investigations are fantastic.

I enjoyed the friends family dynamic, all there for each other through thick and thin. There is never a dull moment, each chapter revealed something new in Emma’s life as well as in the ghost investigation…… Doc isn’t just a close friend after all and with her half brother suddenly turning up, everyone becomes extremely suspicious.

Even though the book was very well done, I enjoyed reading it but I wasn’t hooked. Perhaps It is because it is not like my regular books. I would still recommend this book. And I may look into her much loved series the ghost files.

About the Author

So who am I? Well, I’m the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn’t love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.

Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there’s always someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled “Lord Margrave’s Deception.” I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.

Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce…lol.

I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

Zoe Ashwood is a romance writer with a passion for sweet stories with a sexy twist. While she’s always been a reader, Zoe’s writing used to be limited to diary scribbles and bad (really bad) teenage poetry. Then she participated in NaNoWriMo 2015 and never looked back.
Some 400,000 words later, she’s still in love with the art of making up stories—and making her characters fall in love. Trust the Wolf is her debut novel.
When she’s not writing, Zoe works as a literary translator. She’s happily married to her best friend and has two small boys who are as stubborn as they’re cute.
She’s active on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, but her newsletter or Facebook Group are the best way of keeping in touch!
