What have I recently finished?
Two years ago, he took my innocence and ran,
Luckily for me, he’s a slow runner.
He doesn’t know that he gave me the most beautiful gift in the world – my son.
I’m going to give him a gift too – revenge!
And if he’s thinking he can get me and my son…
Well, he can go take a walk!
She’s my best friend’s little sister.
I should never have touched her.
But I did.
She was hot. She was fun. She was begging me for it.
So I gave it to her… all night long.
I told her I loved her. I promised her the moon and stars.
I meant every word.
Then I vanished. I couldn’t tell her why. I still can’t.
We haven’t talked since.
But I saw her yesterday. She’s still hot enough to stop traffic,
Even with a kid.
She’s got secrets, but so do I.
I know she still wants me, but she’s not begging this time.
This time she wants me to beg.
But I don’t beg. I take.
And I’m taking Jessi. Secrets and all.
Review coming tomorrow…… stay tuned.

New Orleans is a city known for its paranormal history—and it’s the place Emma Rose Crane, AKA Mattie Hathaway, has come home to.
She hopes she can start over in New Orleans, where her ability to see ghosts isn’t so freaky. She’s even starting college, but the whole thing would be a lot easier if she weren’t faced with a family she barely knows, all while dealing with the loss of someone she loved.
Can she really escape her past and be semi-normal? Even with her sister Mary and best friend Eric by her side, it’s going to be a wild ride once she agrees to help Mary’s new friends investigate a “haunted” house.
The house’s new occupants are terrified, and the ghost seems to be attacking their little girl, leaving everyone desperate for answers. Emma isn’t sure what to think when she discovers Dr. Lawrence Olivet was also invited to investigate.
Will her gifts be enough to save the family that is currently being stalked in their own home? And when some of her own family’s long-kept secrets come to light, will her fresh start be over before it even begins?
What will I read next?

In the straits of necessity, sometimes there isn’t room for freedom.
The Price of Silver is the second book in Josie Jaffrey’s Solis Invicti paranormal romance series, set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic London where a deadly infection threatens to wipe out humanity. The only people who can stem its advance are the Silver, a vampiric race who offer a simple exchange: protection in return for blood and subservience.
Emmy is fenced in by the city, the walls marking the edge of safety closing in around her and sealing her in with one vampire who loves her and another who wants her dead. As she struggles to keep herself and the people she cares about alive, her fellow humans chafe against their enforced submission, and it becomes clear that there are bigger schemes and greater deceptions in play than she had ever imagined.
All the while, the monsters wait outside the barricades for their moment. Of one thing she is certain: without the help of the Silver, the humans won’t be safe for long.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
The book revisits post apocalyptic London, Zombies/weepers still walk the country, and the silver/vampires are in control, week 2 out of 4.
Emmy is 28 she has had a rough first week, fighting feelings for both Sol and Drew both the most powerful Solis invicti around.
Emmy is forced to battle with her feelings due to the mark Drew has inflicted upon her, Emmy cannot decide whether she wants to be with Drew or if it is just the hand print mark left on her chest that leaves her wanting more.
Sol offers to turn 4 humans into the silver, however there are conditions, each human must be sponsored by a silver, and pass 3 stages of the test to get through. This is ideal for Drew as he wants Emmy to be with him for the rest of their lives, the bond between them is just to risky with her being human, and Ben still plotting to kill Emmy to kill Drew.
Sol and Emmy constantly show romantic interests in each other throughout the book, plenty of sexual tension. So much testosterone and power fights between Sol and Drew. Emmy annoyed me by not being able to make a decision about the two men and just leads them on so much.
During this whole book I felt that everything that happened in the first book was reiterated throughout, if you did not read the first book then you probably won’t miss out on too many details…. (However the first book was amazing so read it).
The beginning was slower than the first book, not so much action but the story focused on the characters, the relationships and the safety of all the humans.
The main plot of the book is focused around the rebels, humans trying to escape this life and go back to normal away from the barricade the silver have put in place. Emmy overhears information beneficial to Drew and Sol however, Emmy is in deeper trouble than she first thought. Sol cannot always be seen to protect her, after all he can’t be weak when it comes to one human, no matter his interest….
This book did not fail to impress, I was hooked from beginning to end and had the third book at the ready.
If the price of safety is slavery, would you bargain your life? A deadly infection threatens to wipe out humanity. The only people who can stem its advance are the Silver, a vampiric race who offer a simple exchange: protection in return for blood and subservience. It’s not a deal that Emmy’s willing to make, but as her world burns around her she finds herself in the arms of the enemy and the line between oppressor and saviour begins to blur. After an attack by the infected, Emmy is rescued by the handsome Drew who introduces her to the world of the Silver. Desperate to escape subjugation and confused by her attraction to him, she gathers what remains of her surrogate family and plans to make a break for freedom. But despite her efforts to resist, she is drawn further into the intrigues of the mysterious Silver through the agency of their ruler, the Primus: Solomon. Emmy refuses to submit to the cold and detached Primus and an attempt on her life makes it clear that he is unable to protect her from the political machinations of his race. As the connection between them deepens she must choose between her desire and her will to rebel, but can she trust his intentions when everyone is after her blood?

The book follows Emmy on her journey in just one week. Normally works at a bar in London, one night on her way home she is attacked by Weepers ( zombies) and saved by Drew, one of the Silver ( Vampire).
In 24 hours the whole country is under attack from Weepers, the Solis Invicti offer sanctuary for all humans as long as the rules are followed, the leader of the Silver is the one and only Solomon followed by his Secondus Andrew ” Drew”. Those resisting will be killed, those who wish to be safe are set to work to rebuild a new country.
The prologue is set 6 months from the country falling. This is the first book of four, each based on one week in Emmy’s life from the beginning of the end.
Emmy is a strong woman, at first resisting with her friends, planning to live outside the boundaries, however nothing ever goes to plan.
Emmy is forced to be with the Silver, after already bumping into Drew at the beginning she has an advantage, but only if it benefits her in the long run. On the other hand due to her stubbornness and strong character she attracts the attention from the leader Sol aka Solomon, which comes along with it’s own boundaries and unwanted attention.
Emmy is then forced to bounce back and forth between the two most powerful Silver/Vampires in existence, whilst protecting her reputation as not being seen as another weak human.
I loved the book. I was addicted from the beginning. As most of you know I was in a reading slump from the last book I read, this book has brought me back. I completed this book in a day I would say, just two sittings.
I have never come across a book where the author includes two fantasy figures, zombies ( Weepers) and Vampires (The silver). The way Josie Jaffrey writes is fantastic, it has been a while since I have been sucked into the fantasy world, and I am very keen to read the second book “The price of silver”.
The book did not feel rushed, there was always something happening in each chapter, lots to learn about the silver and it leads well into the second book.
Plenty of sexual tension not only between Drew and Emmy but between her and Sol.
If you love fantasy, romance and a good page turner then this is the book for you. I am so addicted, if it wasn’t for me needing to sleep last night I would have stayed up late to finish it.
Ahhh I just cannot get across how much you should all read this book.
I have always written stories, but it wasn’t until I started the first book in the Solis Invicti series in 2014 that I really became obsessed with writing. I love to read, particularly where the escapism of the story is enhanced with an element of fantasy or science fiction. For me, writing is simply an extension of that journey, but I get to decide what happens next (though it’s amazing how often the characters seem to decide for themselves what I’m going to write!).
As a new author, I love to hear from readers with their comments and feedback on the books, so please do get in touch through the website or via Twitter.
Thank you for reading!
