Everyday Makeup Products

Makeup as a new mum is a challenge.  To tell you the truth if it was just me, and Craig wasn’t around, I probably would never wear makeup out ( so time consuming, no new mum has time for that :p).
Most days I cuddle my baby boy in pj’s and no makeup, I am a lazy girl at heart, don’t judge me.
So when I finally decide to go out and dress up, I put on the same makeup look, boring I know but it works for me.
Below I have also added links so you can check out previous posts for these products.
Please enjoy and don’t forget to like, comment and follow.  I really appreciate it.

Every day quick makeupMy Makeup consists of from base to finish-

1- Always moisturise (I forgot to add the cream here but I lately using Nivea face and body).

2- L’Oreal True Match Foundation in shade Rose Ivory ( Those of you who have been here a while know this is my holy grail).  For a quick look I do not use concealer, this foundation covers well.

3- Set it all with Airspun translucent powder.   Available on Amazon, great when you’re on a budget as I have not found a better powder for the same price.

4- Bit of contouring with the Kat Von D shade and light palette which is very well loved and I have hit pan…….. in desperate need of a new palette please comment below.  (I am on a budget now though :/).

5- For blush I have been using Benefits Galifornia.   Bought this over a year ago, I use it all the time and I still haven’t hit pan.  It is a gorgeous pink that you can build on.  A little goes a long way.

6-  Highlight, Sleek highlighting palette with 4 shades.  This is another holy grail product I will definitely purchase again it is stunning.  Again i have hit pan on this product.  Can you tell it’s well loved by all the fingerprints :p.

7- Finally the eyes and brows.  Lately I have been using the Benefit BAD gal BANG mascara , a fantastic product.  I received this in my March Birchbox pot a while ago, and definitely intend to buy the full size tube once used.
And for brows I received the Fill and tame brow mascara in brunette, again I got this in my April Birchbox 2018- Cath Kidston special edition.

Everyday natural look + essentials

IMG_1811

Hello all my lovely followers, and newbies.  I haven’t really shared with you all my everyday essentials in a while, and they have changed a bit.  I always use my makeup to achieve a natural look because, it is either for work or  just general out and about.  It has been a while since I have done a really glam look.
Below are my main essentials to achieve my natural look, I have recently started to fill in my brows and I have noticed a significant improvement to my appearance.

Lets start from the base to the finish shall we?  Most of these I have reviewed, therefor I have linked them below.

IMG_1767

I have reviewed a lot of the products above already, but I haven’t included them all together for a while.  There is a mixture of expensive and affordable makeup above, it has taken me a while to gather this little collection, and I do own more makeup, but these are my favourite at the moment.
They are all super durable, I wear them on 12.5 hour shifts as a nurse and they can withstand all that time.

For more reviews, demos, or before and afters please comment below 🙂 I reply pretty fast.

L’Oreal True Match highlighter-First impression

Hello all my beauty followers,  I went out and splurged on some new makeup, just because it was my birthday 🙂 why not.

Today’s main first impression is about the L’Oreal true match highlights.  I am not sure how long they have been on sale for but I am actually impressed. I tried it today for the first time and fell in love.

img_1706

This powder highlight cost me £7.99 and I got mine in the shade icy glow.  There are two shades, the other is more of a bronze highlight called Golden Glow.

A collection of 4 iridescent powder highlighters which blend effortlessly together for all over illumination or to highlight key areas.

Designed in 2 light enhancing shades. An iridescent golden glow that enhances the overall complexion with a luminous finish, perfect for medium to dark skin tones. Or a pearlescent icy glow for a subtle highlight to a radiant glow, perfect for light to medium skin tones.

Ultra fine pigment and highly blendable formula.  (L’Oreal)

Pro tip: Transition your natural radiance from day to night with True Match Highlight by applying the powder illuminator with a damp brush for a more intense glow.

I personally loved the pink/bronze shade on the right, that was what I used in the picture above.  The other two are beautiful but not as pigmented.  All of these together I think would look gorgeous.  I obviously haven’t used it long enough to give a proper review.  We will have to see if I like it more than my Sleek Highlighting palette.
There was a small amount of fall out, not a lot, but I did find I had to swirl my brush around a bit to get enough product, so it is not as pigmented as I thought.

As a first impression I like it, I will keep testing it out and let you all know what I think, but I do like that it has a possibility of using 4 shades 🙂

L’Oreal True match foundation: Before and After

Hello all, and welcome back to my blog.
Before we get started don’t forget to press that follow/subscribe button to keep up to date with all books/beauty related posts.

As a lot of you liked my before and after post of the Smashbox Pore minimizing primer I thought I would do the same for the L’Oreal True match foundation.
A link to the primer post : Smashbox pore Minimizing primer
Lets get started shall we:

Please remember that I had to use the flash to take both these pictures, this made my foundation look a lot paler than normal, my shade is rose Ivory.

I don’t really need to explain much here, the pictures show the amount of coverage, and this was with just 2 pumps.  It covered my redness and spots perfectly, that’s hard to do.  For those of you who haven’t read my previous posts: my skin can be oily, but most of the time I have a lot of breakouts and dry skin over.  This makes it hard for me when buying foundations because, in the past I have found, even some high end foundations have sunk in around my spots, making them more obvious when I would have been better to not where makeup at all.

I first used my primer from Smashbox as a base, and then applied the true match foundation with a real techniques base complexion sponge.  There is no concealer used.

I have been loving the results of this foundation the last couple months, and the coverage has been amazing.  The best part is, this foundation only cost £9.99 from Boots.
I would however recommend that this foundation be applied using a sponge, as I find brushes sometimes left streaks.  I don’t know if anyone else has found this?

The new vision of skin matching technology. With the finest pigments, invisible to the naked eye and a creamy ultra-gliding texture for a unique silky touch. Giving you a natural finish. The new technology captures the undertones from warm, neutral to cool. (Loreal)

I used to use the old true match foundation and hated it.  But this new version has a more liquid consistency, which I have found to make the foundation easier to blend.
I will definitely be repurchasing this in the future.

Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer £28

WHAT IT IS: Say goodbye to visible pores! Prime to perfection, plus dramatically blur and reduce the appearance of pores instantly and for up to 8 hours.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT: This non-drying formula also absorbs oil all day for flawlessly smooth, shine-free skin.

JUST THE FACTS: • Visibly reduces & blurs pores—instantly! • Mattifies shine & controls oil for up to 8 hours • Sweat & humidity-resistant
Smashbox

First impressions of this primer were, it looked like a normal cream primer when applied to my hand however, when I started to apply it to my face, it instantly dried.  My skin instantly became less shiny, and felt smooth to the touch.  On closer inspection I compared my pores to before and after and, I am blown away! I could practically see no pores.  This was an amazing result as nothing in the past has managed to accomplish this, especially on my nose where my pores are their largest.
A fantastic first impression for me.

L’Oreal True Match Foundation £9.99

L’Oreal’s #1 foundation is now available in 23 shades and matches 98% of UK skintones. L’Oreal’s velvety formula matches your skin’s unique tone and texture, for a true to skin finish: flawless, blendable, and never fake.

L’Oreal’s 23 shades range from warm to neutral to cool undertones, to ensure your foundation is right for you. Whilst your skin tone is visible on the surface and can alter through the seasons, your skin undertones are determined at a deeper level, they are part of your skin and never change. Each complexion has its own undertone: pink (cool), neutral or golden (warm), so you can now find a match that’s true to you.
L’Oreal at Boots

I swear when I bought this in the past I must have had an old formula which I did not like.  While in town I saw this foundation on sale again with more shades, I decided to buy the Rose Vanilla shade.
I used a Real Techniques complexion sponge to apply the foundation and I have achieved amazing results.  I must not have known what I was doing in the past because I was blown away with the results this time.
The consistency was a liquid and very runny however, I only applied one thin layer and found the foundation to be pretty much full coverage, I only needed a small amount of concealer.
It did not sink into any dry skin around my nose or forehead from the cold weather, and it did not build up around my spot prone areas.
I found it dried to a matte finish and didn’t need powder to set.
Flawless coverage was correct.

Overall

Very impressed so far, I am definitely going to be reviewing these products further in the future for you all.
And these two together gave me the best complexion I have ever achieved.  Light weight and smooth.  They both lasted for a long time throughout the day.  The true test will be when I go back to work and I can really put these products through it all.
I am very impressed.

New 3 clay L’Oreal shampoo and condition review.

Hey all I introduce you all the the 3 clay shampoo and conditioner from L’Oreal.  What interested me in this product is that on the adverts it stated it can help people who have oily roots and dry ends.  For some time now I have experienced really oily hair which is horrible and embaressing for me, because no amount of dry shampoo will make it last so I have to wash my hair every other day, I refuse to wash it everyday as this can strip away essential oils, however I cannot leave my hair any longer than 2 days.  I also have extremely dry ends, no matter how much conditioner or oil I put on the ends of my hair my ends will always feel rough, dry and brittle.  Normally this may be easy for people to manage with other products but unfortunately for me I also have a very irritated scalp which has been a battle for the past couple years.  My scalp becomes extremely itchy, covered in lumps, dry skin and red blotches, and no matter what shampoo I try I find my scalp never improves and after 2 days I will be scratching and washing my hair to relieve my irritated/sensitive skin.

When I saw this on TV I thought perhaps the 3 clays formula may help soothe my scalp due to the natural nature of this product.  Now the website claims:

“Introducing our breakthrough innovation from Elvive, Extraordinary Clay. For the first time we have combined 3 refined clays into a hair care range to break the vicious cycle of oily roots & dry ends.

Clays have been celebrated in beauty rituals for thousands of years due to their unrivalled ability to cleanse, purify and energise. In terms of hair care, Clays combat the excessive oil production at the roots but also any dehydration throughout the lengths and ends.

The star of the range and new beauty gesture is the Pre-Shampoo Clay Masque. This “spa-like” treatment when massaged into your roots before shampooing, absorbs excess oils and impurities. Curious why you need a pre-shampoo ritual?”

I have only been using this for about a week so about 6 total washes.  And I am very happy with the results so far. Now was not aware of the mask that is also available with these products which I may just purchase to see if that helps me anymore.

So far the ends of my hair are starting to feel softer, look smoother and have more volume.  However the roots of my hair are still greasy on second day hair, when the product states it should last for 72 hours.  However I am dealing with this because the shampoo has actually helped my scalp (THANKYOU). I am no longer scratching my scalp all the time, and my skin is beginning to settle.  Obviously my scalp condition is still there but these products have significantly reduced the irritation, which is all I could ask for.

Overall I am satisfied with this product I am definitely going to purchase the mask to see if that helps my hair anymore using the combination of the 3.  I definitely recommend these products to all of you out there with the same hair type as me, it has worked wonders for me so far and in such a short space of time.

Comment below your thoughts, I would love to see what people think, or if you have any tips if your hair is the same as mine.   Please don’t forget to follow me.
