Makeup HAUL

Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog, to keep up to date please press the follow button.

Well I went shopping Saturday with a friend and went a little crazy.  I went to Boots first which is a drug/pharmacy store to get my favourite foundation at the moment which is, Maybelline dream satin liquid.  Whilst there I saw the new Dream velvet foundation which has been trending on Instagram and on other blogs, so I thought I would buy that as Maybelline was having a deal where I could buy one product and get the other half price, totalling at £11.98.

I then needed some more concealer from urban Decay as I’m sure I’m about to run out of the naked skin concealer. Whilst there the sales girl said that they were having a deal that day where if I bought £50 worth of products I could get £10 off.  Well I was sucked in then and asked her which was best,  she suggested the primer potion which I have been keeping an eye on for a while now and thought I need to give it a go, as the reviews are amazing.  Then she suggested a setting spray, the spray I bought was the 16hour one and she said it is suitable for dry and oily skin,  bonus. So I ended up paying £59 in Urban Decay oops.

I’m thinking of doing a review for all individually for you all if you’re interested.

Foundation review: Dream satin liquid maybelline

Hello everyone, today I bring you maybellines dream satin liquid foundation.  I have been using this for a couple months now and feel ready to give you a good run down of what I like about this foundation.

First of all my colour is light porcelain which is darker than the picture above, but the lightest shade in the collection. My skin is dry to begin with and will produce more oils during the day which makes my makeup struggle to stay still.  I also break out in blemishes very often like most of us girls do, therefore I need a good coverage foundation.

I will first start with the cons of the foundation, number 1 is that my shade is the lightest and I still find some days it seems a little dark, and my skin isn’t very white I do have a little tan left from the summer, therefore this foundation may be a little orange for those of you with a really pale complexion.  And lastly I do find it a little bit on the thick side making it a little difficult for application.

I have found when apply this foundation a sponge or beauty blender works best, I tried with my real techniques brushes and I found the foundation left streaky marks across my face, where as the beauty blender when damp applied the foundation evenly, and covered the blemishes on my face well, however the product did get soaked into the beauty blender a lot which means I am wasting foundation, but I haven’t found a better way to apply it.

My real test with foundation is whether it will last a shift at work. Some of you may know I’m a nurse therefore I need a good foundation which can deal with the hot ward and as horrible as it is to say sweat.  I do 7.5 hour shifts sometimes 12 so I tested the foundation with and without primer.  Without primer I found after 4 hours the foundation on my forehead, and chin started to become blotchy and begin to slide. This is with powder on as well, so I didn’t get much luck.  However I have recently started using benefits porefessional as a primer and have found that the foundation lasts about 6 hours longer, looks less blotchy and does begin to move a little but not as bad as it was without the primer.

Now I always use a beauty blender, primer before, and powder to set after.  I will keep using it but I wouldn’t recommend this foundation for a night out or for longer than 6 hours as it begins to move and will come off easily, however for a product that is only worth £7.99 in boots I would really recommend this product to people who cannot afford the branded items.

Please leave comments below of a really good drug store foundation that you have tried and loved, I am always looking for new ones.

Maybelline Superstay better skin foundation review.

20140901_111257Hello ladies, today I bring you the best foundation I have tried yet :).
I am using Maybellines, Superstay Better Skin foundation in Leight-beige.  This shade is probably one shade too dark for me, where as the Ivory shade was too white for my skin tone, so I still have to play around with the shades but overall this foundation has really worked for me.
Keep reading and I will show you my skin before the foundation, after the foundation and then my overall makeup complete.

Before foundation:
As you can see I have a lot of blemishes across my chin and nose that I need to cover, as well as the dark circles under my eyes.

After foundation:
You can still see a few blemishes between my eyebrows but overall you can see how well the foundation has covered my skin.  I would say this is a medium coverage.

After all my makeup:
I am really happy with the overall product.  If you have any tips or products I could use for my brows please leave comments below.

My overall evaluation is that this foundation has a powdery finish and definitely gives a medium coverage.  I did not use a primer with this foundation just moisturised my face as that seemed to give the best result.
I defintely recommend this foundation to you all, as you can see it really covered up my imperfections and I have a lot of them.  This product was from Boots and super affordable I think I paid £8.99 for it which is a bargain.

Here is another photo of the foundation only two days ago and it looks a lot better after using it the second time.

Love you all, do not forget to follow and please follow me on Instagram I am always on there and upload regularly.

L’Oreal skin perfection primer vs Maybelline baby skin primer

ImageHello my lovelies,
Today I bring you my comparison between two primers, duh duh duuuhh….
The two I have chosen are both drug store brands.
They are:
– Maybelline New york Baby skin, instant pore eraser.
– L’Oreal Paris, Skin Perfection.

Maybelline New york- Baby skin, Instant pore eraser.

My first thoughts on this product is that I like the packaging it looks really cute, and bold which is good to catch the eye. I was a bit skeptical of this primer as a few people said it was a dupe for Porefessional but then these claims were being disproved, however I needed a primer and thought I would give it a go.

The primer does make my skin feel smooth, and it does have a silicone texture to it.  When I first tried this primer it went on my skin smoothly and filled my pores, however it does feel greasy and it did not stop my skin from becoming shiny through the day.  I would suggest this as a primer for people who have dryer skin and just need the skin softer for makeup.

L’Oreal Paris, Skin Perfection.

I was originally looking for the miracle blur primer which I have seen used by makeup Guru’s on Youtube however I cannot seem to get it in England and cannot find it on Amazon either, so when I saw this in Wilkinson I thought I would give it a go as it claimed to do exactly the same thing.

The packaging is not as nice as it could be especially coming for L’Oreal, however the pink does catch your eye.  I was dissapointed at first when I saw how small the tube was when I took it out of the box at home, after all I paid £8 and was expecting a bigger tube for a drug store brand.

However this primer works really well and I do not know why I stopped using it.
It has a very thick consistency so it is a little hard to apply to the face however, this primer smooths the skin makes imperfections look reduced, and my pores are instantly invisible (BONUS).  And the best thing about this primer is that my skin stayed matte for about 6 hours, and that was really good considering I was working on placement as a student nurse which is hard work.

In conclusion, I would recommend the Baby skin to those of you on a smaller budget who have dry skin as it would be perfect for you and it does make your skin feel like a baby 🙂
However the primer that stands out to me would have to be the L’Oreal Skin perfection as it did everything I needed it to do, and like I said before the only downside was that this primer was a little more expensive than the Baby skin and a lot smaller.

Review: Maybelline Fit me shine stick. Foundation

Hello ladies I am so sorry that I have been behind on posts but my life is a little busy at the moment, you will know this is you follow me on Twitter and Instagram.

Anyway today I bring you the best foundation I have ever used and I will definitely be using it in the summer.
This is the Maybelline FIT me stick in the shade Ivory, it states that it reduces shine and easy to use.

I completely agree with the packet and what people said about this product, I just rub it across my face and then rub in with my middle finger, it is that easy to use.  For a fuller coverage I would recommend you use a foundation brush to push in the foundation into the skin.  However this is such a lovely light weight foundation and is definitely shine free that I will use this all the way through the summer for a more even coverage.

There are no bad words with this foundation I would just recommend that you use a primer beneath as it needs a soft base to really show how well it works.
Well worth the price and a drug store product I will be repurchasing.
Here is a picture of me wearing the foundation and how well it has covered my blemishes and evened my skin tone.

Another bonus is my breakouts have become non existent this foundation stick has been so kind to my skin and does not give me that caked on look.

I will be reviewing more products for you soon from my Haul and I have a clothes Haul coming soon as I went
a little crazy buying new clothes haha oopsies.

Maybelline Fit Me concealer review.

Hello ladies, thought I would give you all a review on one of the products I have been wearing everyday for a couple weeks now.  It is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, I am loving this concealer at the moment, I am using shade number 10, which is a little dark however it is working perfectly for all the little spots and blemishes I have going  on at the moment.  I did buy mine off Amazon for a couple pounds, however I do not know the price in other countries.

Here is what the wand looks like inside, it is a small soft applicator but works perfect to just apply small amounts.  What I do is just DAB the product onto my blemishes and spots, I will then use a foundation brush to push the product into the skin, do not rub across the face otherwise you will not achieve a full coverage.

I think the packaging is lovely and simple, you can see the product and the black lid is sleek so they do not get dirty like some black packaging on makeup products.

Here is the shade like I said it is darker for my skin but looks lighter here, I find this product a good consistency and it does cover my blemishes well, I would not say it is a full coverage but it covers rather well.

I would definitely recommend this product for you all to try, it is super affordable, has a range of colours suitable for your skin, I would use a darker shade than your skin so that it covers the red blemishes well, I find a yellow undertone works well.

Hope this was helpful next time I will show you the coverage on my face, hopefully it will look good :p

Hope to speak again soon, it will probably be another review unless you all have requests.

Maybelline Color tattoo review

Hello ladies,

Today I thought I would show you two eye shadows that I have been using.  These are a cream eyeshadow for those of you interested, I find these are better to put on the lid when using your finger, only because the colour does clog up the makeup brush and they are hard to blend.

The two colours are:

– Left: Metallic Pomegranate.

– Right: On and on Bronze.

They are super affordable I bought mine in Boots for about £5 I think they are on offer the moment now though, so get yours now before they go.

Here is a closer look into the shades,  they do have a hint of shimmer to them which is hard to see as the light keeps reflecting off them.

As you can see the On and on bronze on the bottom has a more golden tint to it, where as the Pomegranate shade above has a more plum tone/ dark purple tint.

These colours are absolutely gorgeous and I would definitely recommend them, they are so pigmented, which I did not expect and they are definitely like a tattoo I struggled to remove mine after I wore them 🙂 however that is a benefit as I find with most eye shadows the colour tends to fade during the day.

I tend to use these as more of a primer as they do crease, and if you use these as a primer, the colour on your eyes will pop especially with extra powder eye shadow on top.  I tried it one night and my eyes stayed perfect all night

The only downside I found to these is that they do crease a lot on the lid, and because they are a cream eyeshadow they leave a bigger crease than a powder eye shadow.  I suggest you try them with an eye primer unfortunately I do not own one so I could not compare the difference.

Overall I would definitely recommend these to you as they are definitely affordable and worth it, like I said above the only downside was that they crease but they are amazing, and give a bold and profound look to your eyes.
