This is my fourth week at my first job as a nurse and my 2nd week where I am working alone. It has been a struggle not going to lie, I’m tired, stressed and emotional at times. No one said it was going to be easy but the transition from student nurse to staff nurse is difficult. As soon as I swapped into my blue uniform , doctors spoke to me, people actually asked me more questions, and I felt people and patients really listened to my opinions and health advice. I’m not saying that anyone was being mean to me before, but it proves that a different look makes people view you differently.
My first week I did have a few tears on a couple shifts but that’s normal, I don’t want any future students reading this and freaking out. It is just hard transitioning knowing that there isn’t a mentor following my every move…..checking all details and ensuring I have enough information. I am now on my own, obviously I can ask other nurses but these patients I have, they are mine, I am caring for them, they are my priority right now, if they are ill I need to know that and act upon it. It’s a big responsibility however I still love being a nurse 😊. I may be tired, worn out and a bit sore from being on my feet all day, but it’s worth it knowing you have touched someone’s life and their families and made them feel better, and to let them know they are not alone and that someone cares and will make their time in hospital comfortable but also making sure that the patient has everything they need to go home safely.
I am 3 weeks away from the end of my nursing degree, it has been a long 3 years!
Currently I am re writing an essay for a resubmission as well as finishing my elective placement for my new job 😊 which I hopefully start 7/9/15 eek. The last 3 years have been a struggle even now I have no money and am just keeping things together. However the first months wages will be worth it.
I am finally getting back into my books with reviews lined up and my own books to read, there will be reviews coming. I just miss blogging so much but university has been a big priority lately and I have had a lot to figure out. If you follow me on Twitter I am trying to tweet more for you all my name on there is @creechhan 😊.
I miss you all and I miss my books. I can’t wait to write again and review more beauty products when I get more money.
Love Hannah x
It has been one of those weekends.
I have moved my bedroom around, now I realise how bare my walls are, I need to get some pictures and decorations and make this room gorgeous.
I am planning to write two essays for my final year of nursing, I have emailed placement to organise when I start in March, and I emailed my elective placement for nursing at my dream job.
Guess what???? I have a job interview for the dream job 😀 super excited!
I am still currently reading a blaze of sun by Bella Forrest, which is amazing I just have to find the time as the next few months are manic! But trust me fellow book worms I will complete it as I have a few other books to read, and a few review requests.
The hardest thing this month is starting to lose weight. As some of you know I have tried for ages and if you follow me on Twitter you will see all my enquiries into what’s fast and easy. 😫 I hate working out but I have been gaining weight really fast lately and I really want to lose my weight especially for my graduation this year, however my sister loves take aways and I give in so easily 😖 oops. Has anyone got any tips to help me lose the weight fast as well as keeping my will power?
I miss you all please follow me on Twitter (creechhan) and you can always tweet me I will always reply fast!
And don’t forget to follow my blog and have a good look.
Well hello there.
I have now enrolled for my third and final yesr of university studying nursing…. eeek! Super scared as this is it soon I will be on my own, however I can’t wait to be out of education and earning my own wage.
I need to have a look into what books I need which will mainly be for my dissertation, any tips on how to kaoe a dissertation good would really help :-).
I now know my first placement of this year which will be on a respiratory ward, really excited about that! Will get me to specialise in a specific area. So my parents bought me a stethoscope and pulse oximeter so I won’t need to look for machines on the ward. I know now in this placement I will be expected to know a lot more as well as do a lot of care on my own with just supervision, this way I will learn the priorities.
If anyone has any recommendations for respiratory care please comment below I am willing to get what ever will help me.
Hey everyone, above is how I feel Lol. So cute!
Anyway I completed my last written exam today and I am pretty proud of myself and think I have passed.
All I have left is my practical exam next Tuesday which is called an ISCE, I will find out tomorrow what my ISCE will be on which is exciting as I will have the weekend to revise.
Lets hope that I have done enough to pass my
poster and essay
and the past two exams I have done.
If I have passed then that is my done for my second year of nursing, just have to complete my OAR book which is on placement and then finish my placement in July and I am FINISHED!!!!!
Eeek looking forward to reading all my new books and getting a tan 🙂
Better get packing for my move a week on Saturday eek.
Speak to you all soon
Hello all my lovely followers, thankyou for sticking around after all my moaning lately, it means so much to have people support me and tell me about how they are, and to remind me that I am not alone in my problems and that there are people out there in the same situation who have succeeded and fought through everything.
Well my exam is tomorrow on Randomised controlled trials bearing in mind this will be a retake, does anyone want to talk my place?
I also have to do my practical prep tomorrow morning before the exam, so back into my uniform it is, going to be so uncomfortable in the exam.
I am so tired it is unreal, but wanted to update you all on what I am doing as my last post on stress seemed to be a big hit.
I will be reading again soon, at the moment my reading includes anatomy and physiology as well as general nursing care, and drug calculations :-p are you mind boggled yet haha.
However starting next week I can get back into reading the latest house of night book 🙂 I am so looking forward to that, and I better get packing as we move on the 21st YAY! into a 2 bed house with my little sister.
