Destined – By Brenda K. Davies

Terrified of becoming mated like her parents, Isabelle has locked herself away in order to avoid their fate. She is content to stay sheltered amongst her family, hidden away as she lives out her days away from the human race, and the world. Despite her determination to remain alone, her world is rocked when a person from her parent’s past arrives at their door, bringing with them the powerful, and stunning vampire Stefan.

Though Stefan is not expecting to arrive at a nest full of vampires, he is immediately drawn to the vibrant, often defiant, and willful Isabelle. To his surprise, Isabelle does everything in her power to avoid him, and her desire for him.

No matter how hard she tries to fight it though, Isabelle begins to realize that trying to deny her destiny may just destroy them both, as there are some things that cannot be stopped. Just as she begins to let her guard down, Stefan’s dark and deadly past catches up to him and threatens to destroy them both.

The second in the Vampire awakenings series, and I think I have found my new found favourite series. Brenda has well and truly brought back me into the world of vampires, I really recommend this book to you all.

The first “Awakened” was based on Sera and Liam, since then they have had 10 children…… yep 10! See my previous review.
What I think I am going to like about this series is that each book follows the same story line, re visiting previous characters however the point of view is from a different perspective. This book is based on Isabelle the second eldest of the 10 children.
The way Brenda has wrote these books reminds me of how author Nalini Singh shares her books, same story but different characters perspectives. It keeps the series fresh, and leaves you wanting more.

You could read this as a stand alone, however for better context I would advise reading the whole series, it flows better.
Isbaelle and Stefan portray plenty of sexual tension throughout, each chapter was full of character growth, love and pure lust. I really liked the family dynamic, and the inside jokes.

The action again was fast and happened in the very end, I wish it was spread throughout the book. As soon as the fighting began it ended.

I enjoyed reading about Liam and Sera throughout, but they were mentioned briefly leaving Isabelle as the clear focus. Was weird to think that Stefan is older than Sera’s parents.

So far out of the two books this is my favourite. I do think there was some influence from the twilight saga series in this.

A castle of sand: Book review.

Today I bring you all the third installment of A shade of vampire, A castle of sand.  Here are the links to the first two books that I reviewed.
Book 1: https://hannahsbeautifulfantasy.wordpress.com/2014/08/22/a-shade-of-vampire-book-review/
Book 2: https://hannahsbeautifulfantasy.wordpress.com/2014/09/06/a-shade-of-blood-book-review/

What Sofia has with Derek feels like a sandcastle; temporary and something that the waves of the life and time will soon win…

Since the return of Gregor Novak, the island has turned several shades darker,  His hatred toward Sofia and thirst for fresh blood lead to a brutal war igniting between father and son.

Meanwhile the hunter’s are gaining formidable strength and resources by the day; they know that the safety of the shade hands entirely on its ability to remain hidden from them.

And a sinister secret lies in wait for Sofia within the bowels of an Egyptian desert a secret that threatens to crush her sandcastle much sooner than she could have expected….

Gregor Novak comes to claim his throne from his son Derek, and to change all rules set by Derek and to get rid of Sofia and her influence on his son.
Due to Gregor’s return Derek is reminded that his slaves/friends as well as Sofia after a year either have to be killed, turned into a vampire or sent to the Catacombs where all humans are to spend the rest of their lives.  With this decision Sofia has to decide what she is too do with her life if she is to show her love to Derek.  To give her the space Derek makes a pent house in the catacombs much to the disgust of the other humans living there.

War is only just beginning with Derek and Gregor, however to make things worse Sofia realises her mother is no longer human but a sick twisted vampire just like Gregor.

This book is well done, I love how Bella has included the end of the book into the first chapter, therefore there was suspense all the way through the book because I knew there was going to be a fight but the whole book took me on a long journey to find out how Sofia and Derek got themselves into a win or die situation.
The story line just gets better and better, this book was my favourite so far because I was getting to know nearly all the characters, and the story line is coming together making it easier to understand what makes people the way they are, however there are still some secrets left to uncover which is great when leading each book into one another.
The evil is intensified and so is the relationship between Sofia and Derek.

If you read my other reviews you will see that I rave about this book all the time.

A shade of Vampire: Book review.

Hello everyone.  I was told to read this book by a lovely follower on my Instagram account.  I liked the reviews I saw of this book and it fits into the genre of books that I love to read.  This book had vampires, love and action.  Who wouldn’t love that.  This author is new to me she does not have a Twitter account so I had little to go on, but Bella Forrest is amazing from what I have read and I am now onto the 3rd book of this series which I will review soon.  A shade of Vampire is the first in this series and the second is a shade of vampire.

The two main characters in this series are Sofia Claremont and Derek Novak.  Sofia is a regular 17 year old however she has been left to be raised by her dads friend and family, after her mother was taken to be cared for as Sofia’s dad saw her as mentally unfit.  Derek Novak on the other hand is a vampire who has been asleep for just over 400 years, but he was told he would sleep for eternity.

Now they both live completely different lives, Sofia is more of a loner and only really talks to her best friend Ben who she has a huge crush on but she also lives with (imagine how hard that is).  Where as Derek is centuries old and has now awoken to a completely different world where he is seen as the prince and expected to rule and save the Shade which is an island where the vampires of this can live.

Everything changes for Sofia on the night of her birthday when she feels everyone has forgotten her birthday, she takes a long walk on the beach at night, only to be taken by one of the vampires back to the Shade where she is to be offered to Derek as a “TREAT”.

However Derek see’s more in Sofia than he should have and no longer wants to kill her but infact he wants to keep her safe with him and never wants her to leave him no matter what it takes.
The relationship between these two is amazing!

I love how Bella Forrest (the author) has split the book by each chapter being a different character, this way I was able to really visualise the life of each of these characters and really get to know what makes them what they are.  I fell in love with both Derek and Sofia as they are perfect for each other and bring the best side out of each other.  The only character I could not warm to was Ben who is Sofia’s best friend, the vibe I got from him was that he is way to overprotective and really doesn’t take what Sofia wants into consideration.

The story line of this book is amazing and well thought out, nothing is rushed, and every detail and question is covered in this book.

The only issue I had with this book is that it was really short with only 142 pages which is a small amount for me, as well as the book size which was too big for the amount of pages, making it difficult to hold compared to a normal size book.  I loved the cover of the book, the darkness of the cover reminds me of Derek and the woman on the front who looks like an angel in a long white dress is obviously  Sofia, I feel it symbolises that Sofia is Derek’s savior, you will understand what I mean when you read the story :). Such a plain front cover yet it is so bold with red writing.  The cover of Bella’s books are very enticing.

I would definitely recommend this book to those of you who love fantasy, I read this book in two hours that is how glued I was to the book.  Once reading the first you won’t be able to stop yourself from reading the second, just give it a go :).  I will be writing the review for the second book soon if you want to know more about the series.  For more updates follow me on Instagram:  hannahbunz and twitter: creechhan.  I always update and share photos of what is next.  I hope you enjoyed this book review and I will be back soon.
